Book Character Day

Today we had book character day. I went dressed as Maid Marian from Robin Hood. She is a very cool female character and I really enjoyed going as her.

Current events

This week for current events I decided to choose the question about Roger Federer. The question was a true or false one. We got it correct.
Roger Federer will be out of competitive tennis until the start of the 2021 season because of a setback in his recovery from surgery on his right knee. The 20-time Grand Slam champion on Wednesday posted a statement to Twitter to confirm he'll be out of action for the rest of 2020.

Writing.

This week for writing we had to write about a discict in NZ. I chose the Tasman district because I have been going there since I was born. Here is my writing.

Tasman district report.

The Tasman district is a local government district in the north of the south island of New Zealand. It borders canterbury. It is dry in summer and autumn but windy and wet in the spring and the winter.

Nelson was New Zealand’s second planned European settlement. In 1841 the New Zealand Company sold Nelson’s land in London. The plan was that English settlers with capital would develop the land, employing workmen. But, many who bought land were speculators who had no intention of settling in New Zealand, and there was insufficient land good for farming. When the company explored the area they found hills and mountains covered in forest.

In Tasman there are some very significant landmarks to New Zealand.
These include split apple rock, Broadgreen Historic House and the Anatoki salmon farm (which is located just south of Collingwood). These are just a few cool things to see and do in the Tasman district.

Some of the most famous walks of New Zealand are in the Tasman district.
One of the better known walks is called the Able Tasman. I have been on this walk and I absolutely loved it. There are also a lot of famous lakes such as the blue lake, Lake Rotoiti and lake Rotoroa. I have also been to farewell spit, which is a well known destination where many tourists take bus rides to.

The tasman district is an amazing place to explore, from lakes, tramps and cool things to do with your family. I have been going to Goldey Bay for my whole life and I absolutely love it!

Reading task.

What's In The News This Week?

Current Events quiz --- Microsoft.

In the news recently, microsoft is to replace  around 50 of their contract journalist and use automated systems to select news stories instead. A team of full time journalist will remain, but some sacked journalist warned that artificial intelligence may not be fully familiar with strict editorial guidelines, and could  end up letting through inappropriate stories. I think that it is not a good idea because people are losing their jobs and they're being replaced by robots.
