Visiting Author

On Wednesday we had a visit from Thelma Eakin
the author of our class novel (The mine's afire). She had some treasures that she brought in and showed us. The treasures consisted of a safety lamp that the miners should have used but only introduced it later on after the explosion and a brass replica of the statue at the Brunner mine site. The book took about nine months to write and it was published in 2010. Before she wrote this book she was an English teacher and a Drama instructer at the Greymouth High School.
We learnt a lot and I really recomend that you read the book.

I really like how you have added in a detailed description so your viewers can understand what happened!
I also like how you have added in a photo, too.
It was quite cool how the real 'Brunner Brass Band' drum was actually used in the high school play, aye?!
What was your favourite part in the book?

    Noho ora mai
